First Bath Together

Dylan and Ava Grace had their first bath together. They had so much fun playing! Well, Ava had fun playing, I think it will take Dylan some time to adjust to sharing his bath toys :-)

Sweet Cheeks and Me

My friend Jill started her own online boutique at sweetcheeksandme.com. She has the cutest blankets, bath toys, baby legs, clothing, and so much more! What’s so great is that she can do the coolest monogramming designs (for the lowest price I have found), and pretty much on anything you want! If you have something in mind and don’t see it on her website, email her and she can definitely work with you to get exactly what you want. She made several onesies for Ava Grace when she was born which were so cute! Dylan had a fireman-themed 2nd birthday party, and she made a shirt in red with a Dalmatian-print 2 on the front. In fact, I’m about to order another outfit for Ava Grace that I found on her website with matching babylegs ;-)

February Fevers

It’s been a while since I have posted any blog – which isn’t surprising because time is certainly flying this year! It seems like the whole family has been sick since Thanksgiving – either one of us or some/all at the same time. Dylan was particularly sick the first week of February with a cold, double ear infection, and viral tonsillitis. He was running fever all week! This week it looks like we are off to a good start – healthy and feeling great! Dylan and Ava Grace have been growing so quickly. They went to the doctor recently for their 2 year and 9 month check up, and both are long and lean – 70-75% in height, and 10% in weight. It’s funny because both kids have healthy appetites, so they must burn it off quickly running/crawling around all day long!

Dylan seems to be adjusting to school and actually looks forward to it in the morning. That is, of course, until mommy walks out of the classroom door! But it’s certainly an improvement and I will definitely take it :-) He completely surprises me with all of the new things he does. Last night when I was making dinner, he was coloring in the kitchen and singing to himself “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”. I have no idea where he learned that song, because that isn’t one mommy sings to him!

After dinner, he proceeded to tell me a story about a spaceship and monsters (his pajamas had silly monsters on them) and how they go way up high to the moon. He is completely into reading books and playing music, and let me also say that he is definitely into being independent! I usually read the kids a book before they go to bed, but lately Dylan wants me to read a couple of pages (as he says “no, I do!”), then leave him with his light on to read in bed by himself. And that is definitely what he does! He will read for about 15-20 minutes, then put the book away and go to sleep. I am so proud of his achievements, and it seems like he is learning new things—whether it be words, brushing his own teeth, songs, etc.—every day.

Ava has completely come out of her shell and showing her little personality this past month. Little Miss Observer has now turned into Little Miss Performer! She waives, claps, dances, sings/screams, copies sounds people do, pulls up on anything and everything, and does this cute little head shake. She is now also adjusting to eating finger foods like cheerios, puffs, turkey sticks, cheese, and some table food. She is such a happy baby and completely adores Dylan! They are so cute together and he loves making her laugh. She is such a cuddle bug and has to sleep with her arms around a doll or toy. She is also completely enamored by our cat Caesar, and tackles him with hugs and chance she gets.

As for Michael and I, nothing new to report. I am into my second month at SMU where I’m finishing up my evening bachelor’s degree. I’m taking a Hitchcock film class and a Jazz music class. Sounds easy enough! Of course you just never know – the easiest sounding classes could be the hardest. Work is as busy as ever for the both of us. I’ve been doing some overtime either at work or home. I changed my work schedule to where I leave at 4:30 which makes a tremendous difference at home in the evenings. Bathtime, dinnertime, and bedtime seem to go much easier and there is enough time now where I’m not running around sweating to get everything done!

We are planning to see the King Tut exhibit at the DMA on Saturday which I am so excited about! I love art and art history, and always cherish my museum visits. For Valentine’s Day we are going to Sullivan’s Steakhouse, then The Balcony Club for drinks and jazz listening afterwards. The Balcony Club is a two-in-one trip: fantastic place to hear live bands if you haven’t heard of it, and also to do a research paper for my class-ha!

Hope everyone has a Happy Valentine’s Day!!
