Rain, Rain Go Away!

My little butterfly

I'm so happy we got a break from the rain to enjoy such a beautiful weekend! We had outdoor activities planned so I'm happy it was sunny and gorgeous. Ava Grace, Josilyn and Peyton had fun walking in the parade at the Butterfly Flutterby Festival in Grapevine, while Dylan, his daddy and uncles watched. After the parade, the kids were able to do art projects, release butterflies, and have their faces painted. I put my clown-phobia aside so the kids could get balloon animals before we left. That was a tough decision - letting Dylan and Ava have balloons made, or let my fear of clowns get the best of me!

After the butterfly festival, we ate a quick lunch before heading to the Dallas Arboretum. Walking around the trails looking at the different plants and flowers, with sailboats on White Rock Lake in the background - WOW. It was so picturesque! And I don't think I've ever seen so many types of pumpkins in one place...

Proof that it's hard to take pictures of the kids these days!!

Hopefully the rain will take a break so everyone can enjoy another fantastic weekend.

Just Call Me Martha!

Friday morning I got ready for work just like any other day. I got in my car and drove to the parking garage and began my walk a couple of blocks to work. That's when I realized it was in the 50s! Totally unexpected, and I could have sworn I checked the weather. Dylan and Ava Grace spent the night on Thursday with their grandparents, and during my walk to work all I could think about was the clothes I had packed for them - shorts and tank top! Poor babies. That day I checked the forecast for the weekend and it wasn't going to warm up much, so I tried to come up with some inside projects. As the kids grow, so does their energy level. I knew I had to come up with something creative to keep their interest!

Since Halloween is around the corner, we did crafts with haunted houses which Dylan loved. During a trip to Target, I pretty much raided the washable paint and marker section, and grabbed a bag of mini-pumpkins. When the kids were napping, I set up the table with all different kinds of paints, markers, pumpkins, and paper. When they woke up they were so excited!

Ava got to play with finger paints on paper, and then she covered her pumpkin. Dylan painted pretty much anything he could get his hands on, and with every single color available! He did great, and had so much fun. Of course, I was so busy supervising the painting that I didn't take any pictures :-(

Sunday we all made our own pizzas. It was easy and so much fun! Ava just ate all of the toppings instead of putting them on her pizza, and Dylan made his pizza then ate all of the leftover toppings! The pizzas were surprisingly yummy so we will definitely have make-your-own pizza nights in the future.

Michael is going to Detroit for work, so we are both looking forward to spending time with the kids next weekend. Ava is in a parade and will be dressing up as a butterfly, and we will be going to the pumpkin patch to get as many pumpkins as possible!
