Sara, Sara and Prism Break

Ava received a butterfly cage for her birthday a couple of years ago and this momma finally was able to get the caterpillars she's been waiting on! They arrived at my work, and so I sent Ava a picture of them from my desk. She could not wait to see them!

About 10 days later, the caterpillars turned into chrysalides and we transferred them to the butterfly cage, where we waited for them to transform into beautiful painted lady butterflies.

Once they became butterflies, we had to feed them.

Ava gave them tangerines and cotton balls dipped in sugar water.

Since it had been raining (and our house got struck by lightning...a post to come!) I went to the lake for a much needed break for some r&r. The kids thought it was a great idea to release the butterflies at the lake house.

As they were being released, Ava decided to name her butterfly Sara. Dylan named his butterfly Prism Break (which I'm not sure if he meant to say Prison Break, and well, if he did there are a lot more questions I have about the name!) and Harper named hers Sara too. It was so beautiful watching them as they flew up into the sky. I know they will be so happy at the lake!
